Ted Dekker - Elyon

Elyon (Books of History Chronicles: The Lost Books, #6)Elyon by Ted Dekker
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

...and finished, but not really. The cool thing about this series is that while named 'the circle' it is circular reading. These 6 books which in order spell C.I.R.C.L.E. (first letter of the single-word title), are part of another connected series of books which have colors as their title (Red, Green, Black, White).
While trying to determine where to start for this series, I read somewhere that you can start at any of the 'color' titles or at the beginning of the 'C.I.R.C.L.E.' series. Cool idea, Mr. Dekker.
*Now, a review of this book and the overall impression of the series:
This was a must-read in that I had already ingested the first 5 titles and at 285 pages, there isn't much excuse to skip the 6th and final book of a series. The first four books were decent reads. Book five had a co-author and although it had an interesting story twist, I wanted the characters to just get something done with their mission (I am trying not to give any spoilers). Overall the 5th was a good bridge to the 6th, but it started to drag. With the 6th book, I found myself just wanting to finish the book so the series was over. I sped-read through much of the first 75%. I had to read the intro twice to remember what each character represented in the book. The last part re-gained my interest and the ending was done well. **the end of my review has to be vague, or else I might spoil something for you.
I admire Mr. Dekker for being an edgy Christian-tinged author and will give the color-books a shot. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is which order to read the color books in.

Hey bud the "color books" are actually called the circle trilogy and are the core series, they should be read in order being as it is 1 continued story. They read Black, Red,and White. then Green. the core story kind of sums up at the end of white and green has been considered confusing for some so I'd save green for last. There is another series called the paradise novels, they are Showdown, Saint, and Sinner. At the very least read showdown.

Thank you for the details - acassandro - I have a long list of books to read, but your help made Ted Dekker jump back into the top 10.
